HINDRANCES TO EFFECTIVE PRAYER  TEXT JAMES 4:2-3
Jesus prayed often while on earth because he found it so important in his life, surely prayer ought to have a significant place in our life . sometimes there are certain hindrances that cause God to withhold answer to our prayers.
HINDRANCES TO OUR PRAYERS.
1.     ASKING FROM A SELF MOTIVE
2.     A GENERAL INDIFFERENCE TOWARDS THE BIBLE
3.     AN UNFORGIVING SPIRIT TOWARDS OTHERS
4.     DISCORD IN HOME
5.     ANY UNCONFESED SIN
6.     LACK OF FAITH

ASKING FROM A SELF MOTIVE (JAMES 4:3)
The first thing that hinders prayers and cause God to withhold answer to our prayers, is a selfish purpose in our prayer.  When we ask only to satisfy our own pleasure the bible said we ask amiss, and God knows our heart so he knows what we can do, so because of that he can withhold the positive answers.
A GENERAL INDIFFERENCE TOWARDS THE BIBLE (proverbs 28:9 )
If our heart are turned away from what is in the bible it is likely that our prayers can be an abomination. It is proper for Christian to read good books, make good friends and attained all necessary social activities but if those activities stand in between you and your regular connection with God you cut it short.
AN UNFORGIVING SPIRIT TOWARDS OTHERS
 mark 11:25. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.   ,Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:  

DISCORD IN HOME
1 peter 2:7; Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,  3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.  If misunderstanding occurs, we should never let the sun go down on a family squabble. Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  


ANY UNCONFESSED SIN
Another factor that hinders our prayers IS unconfused sin and bearing in mind that unconfused sin can so the answer to our prayer. No Christian can be successful with sin his life or practicing sin ( psalm 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:  
LACK OF FAITTH
Failure to believe that God will answer  our prayer is a hindrance( james  1:6-7 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.  5: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.  Other things that could hinder our prayers could be unwillingness to receive answer to our prayers.

Conclusion
 If your prayers are not reaching Gods throne, search your life for some evil that might be lurking there.

VERSE OF THE WEEK ROM 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
